Mayor's Cup High School Wrestling Championships (NYC)
Mayor's Cup High School Wrestling Championships The New York City Sports Commission had the Second Annual Mayor's Cup High School Wrestling Championships at Hunter College on 02.11.06 (regardless of the snowstorm that the city had). Forty high schools from the New York City area sent their finest wrestlers from every weight class ranging from 96 pounds to 275 pounds to determine a city champion. Among the competitors were the top four wrestlers from each of the PSAL, CHSAA and Independent Schools Association. PSAL wrestlers captured gold medals in 12 of the 15 weight classes. Curtis High School led the PSAL championship parade with three gold medals. Angel Mercado was especially impressive with his technical fall over Tottenville's Jesse DiOrio at 140 pounds, while Vincent Vitadamo (125) and Jake Villaret (135) also claimed their first Mayor's Cup titles.

World Wrestling Entertainment
I guess that the only thing worth pointing out this month regarding the WWE is that Stephanie McMahon is expecting her first child if anyone cares about the gossip.

Total Non-Stop Action
Christian Cage Christian Cage (known simply as Christian in the WWE) won the NWA world championship from Jeff Jarrett (Against All Odds PPV, 02.12.06). During the same PPV, Rhino defeated "The Monster" Abyss. Samoa Joe defeated AJ Styles and "The Fallen Angel" Christopher Daniels keeping the TNA X-Division championship. Team 3D (Brother Ray and Brother Devon) defeated Team Canada (Bobby Roode and Eric Young).

Samoa Joe has been undefeated since he signed with TNA. He will face the two men he faced at the Against All Odds PPV, AJ Styles and "The Fallen Angel" Christopher Daniels in a Ultimate X Match (steel cables crossed over the ring) on the Destination X PPV, 03.12.06. Because of Samoa Joe's weight, the Ultimate X cable setup will be reinforced. It wouldn't surprise me if Samoa Joe loses the X-Division title in order to push him for the NWA world title.

TNA is selling the story of Sting's retirement. Jeff Jarrett showed video footage of Sting picking up his children from some location to their home (Impact, 02.25.06). The story is annoying and only makes me wonder when Sting will return to the ring.

On 02.06.06, SpikeTV announced that it would move TNA Impact to Thursdays at 9:00 PM, ET/PT, starting 04.13.06. This is the old time slot of WWE (known as WWF then) Smackdown before moving to Fridays and WCW Thunder before moving to Wednesdays.
