Some Random Thoughts
A new version of the Monday night wars started on 10.03.05. In one corner, the WWE with its new deal with USA Network to air all cable shows. In the other corner, SpikeTV aired UFC shows and TNA Impact. This time it is not what promotion is best, but whether a channel can sell more than a wrestling promotion. Meanwhile FSN, which no longer has the rights to air UFC or TNA programming, airs Pride Fighting Championships on Sundays (moved form Monday nights, no competition for the WWE and SpikeTV fight). I am glad to have a DVR.

World Wrestling Entertainment
The WWE returns to the USA Network with a three-hour (7:55 PM to 11:05 PM) homecoming with the return of "Stone Cold" Steve Austin, Hulk Hogan, Mick Foley and Triple H. Right after RAW, there was a special presentation of the best moments in RAW history, RAW Exposed, completing the four-hour WWE homecoming block.

During the homecoming show, "Stone Cold" Steve Austin stunned the whole McMahon clan. Hogan teased us to believe that he will face Austin. Triple H beat Ric Flair to a bloody pulp literally. John Cena beat Eric Bischoff in a title match that was a poor copy of the feud that Vince McMahon and "Stone Cold" Steve Austin had in the late 1990's. Shawn Michaels and Kurt Angle had a thirty-minute iron-man match with two wins each, which was a weak reminder of the Michaels and Bret Hart one-hour iron-man match where Micheals won the WWF world title circa 1995.

Former Smackdown champion (whatever name the title had at the time), Brock Lesnar won the IWGP (Japan) world title in a match against Kazuyuki Fujita and Masahiro Chono in a three-way match.

Former WWE diva Stacy Carter (known as Ms Kitty when she was involved in wrestling in the late 1990's) now works a real estate company in Florida. The website for the real estate company had a picture of Carter as well as pictures of other brokers, but they have pulled her picture, as of 10.19.05. It seems that the company was overwhelmed with Carter's fans who wanted to see current pictures of "Ms Kitty" Carter, which are floating in the internet.

Kane returned after some time off and won a Battle Royal (RAW, 10.17.05) to be one of three possible contenders to face John Cena for the WWE Championship on Taboo Tuesday PPV (11.01.05).

Booker T defeated Chris Benoit for the US Title with some help from his wife, Sharmell, (Smackdown, 10.21.05).

Total Non-Stop Action
TNA in SpikeTV TNA debuted on SpikeTV on 10.01.05. The show was better than previous TNA material and better than what the WWE has put in a while. The biggest surprises were the Dudleys (now called Team 3D) and Kevin Nash who came at the end of the show to attack Jeff Jarrett and America's Most Wanted. Nash and Jarrett will continue right where they left their feud five months ago.

TNA had a great ECW nostalgia match between Sabu and Rhyno. The fight was interrupted when Abyss and Jeff Hardy came to the ring and ended fighting each other (Impact, 10.15.05) to promote the Monster Ball II match at Bound for Glory PPV (10.23.05).

The Bound for Glory PPV was a good night for Rhyno. He won Monster Ball II match, the Ten-Man Gauntlet for the Number One Contender for the NWA world title and finally won the title from Jeff Jarrett in with former UFC fighter Tito Ortiz as the special enforcer (10.23.05).

During the Bound for Glory PPV (10.23.05), Petey Williams won the Ultimate X Match for the X-Division. America's Most Wanted with Gail Kim defeated The Naturals to hold on to the NWA tag team championship. Another important match for what is worth (promotion of the X-Division) was between Samoa Joe and Jushin "Thunder" Liger, which Samoa Joe won. Another match that TNA was pushing was between Team Canada (A1, Eric Young and Bobby Roode) with Scott D'Amore and 3 Live Kru (The Truth, BG James and Konnan), which Team Canada won. At the end of the match, BG James was attacked by Team Canada till Kip James came to the ring to save his former tag team partner (New Age Outlaws).

TNA is trying to get a prime time spot on Thursdays on SpikeTV (a Viacom company) on 11.03.05 with an Impact two-hour primetime special. Since UPN (another Viacom company) moved WWE's Smackdown from Thursdays to Fridays without consulting the WWE, SpikeTV might give the Thursday slot that WWE lost to TNA (on a different Viacom channel, like if anyone outside the WWE cares). Nonetheless on the two-hour primetime special, Rhyno is scheduled to defend his NWA world title against Jeff Jarrett. An Ultimate X match for the X-Division number one contendership is also scheduled for the two-hour primetime special. Team 3D will face Team Canada.
