Some Random Thoughts
Stu
Hart (1915-2003), father of the Bret Hart and the late
Owen Hart, died
of complications of pneumonia on 10.16.03.
Hawk (real
name Michael Hegstrand, 1957-2003) from The Road Warriors has also left us. The
WWE put together a video segment in his memory. TNA and other promotions also
remembered the late Michael "Hawk" Hegstrand.
World Wrestling Entertainment
Shane McMahon continues to
feud with Kane.
They have hurt each other for months. Shane tricked Kane to stay in a limousine
and had it drive under a trailer. The limousine got destroyed and allegedly Kane
was in the limousine during the crash. If anyone paid attention the first time
the footage rolled, there was a delay between the scene in which Kane enters the
limousine and the scene when Shane leaves it (RAW, 10.06.03). For months, the
WWE has pushed Kane's monster persona storyline.
Goldberg has been feuding
with Triple H since the title changed hands (09.21.03).
Triple H put a $100,000 bounty on Goldberg. One of the wrestlers who wanted to
claim the bounty was Mark Henry who had a title match. Goldberg was able to
suplex and beat Henry, too staged (RAW, 10.06.03). The wrestler who claimed the
bounty was Batista during a title match between Shawn Michaels and Goldberg
(RAW, 10.20.03). Batista returned returned to WWE as a member of Evolution
(along with Triple H, Rick Flair and Randy Orton).
Eddie Guerrero and The Big
Show (real name Paul Wight) have been feuding. Eddie Guerrero stole Big Show's
food that intoxicated him (Smackdown, 10.02.03). Then The Big Show attacked
Eddie Guerrero during an interview, but Guerrero sprayed The Big Show with with
water from a septic tank (like Kevin Nash did to Randy Savage)
making The Big Show cry (Smackdown, 10.09.03). The Big Show in return attacked
Eddie Guerrero after defending the US Title against Rhyno (Smackdown, 10.16.03).
The Big Show won the US Title (No Mercy, 10.19.03).
At the No Mercy PPV
(10.19.03), Stephanie McMahon had a match against Vince McMahon. The stipulation
of the match was that the loser had to leave the company. The stroryline had
Stephanie leaving the WWE to have some time off to marry Jean-Paul LeVesque
(better known as Triple H). Vince McMahon assigned Paul Heyman as the General
Manager for Smackdown.
Total Non-Stop Action
The following press release was sent by
TNA.
A post match press conference
in Japan by Hulk Hogan turned chaotic on 10.12.03 when TNA's Jeff Jarrett showed
up to confront Hogan. Hogan was meeting with members of the Japanese press
following his victory over Masa Chono at the big New Japan event in the Tokyo
Dome when Jarrett burst on to the scene and attacked Hogan.
Hogan was addressing the
Japanese media about his future, and had just said, "I have unfinished
business here in Japan. I want to win the IWGP title again. I also have
unfinished business in the United States. The only title I've never won is the
NWA World Heavyweight Title.& Jeff Jarrett burst on the scene in a rage and
attacked Hogan and left him a bloody mess. Jarrett taunted Hogan by saying,
"I heard the rumors that you wanted to come to TNA... well TNA just came to
you."
