Some Random Thoughts
Reports of different websites have published the results of Miss Elizabeth's death (real name Elizabeth Hulette). The final report indicates that she died because of an acute intoxication, in other words a common drug overdose. Lex Luger (real name Lawrence Pfohl) should be held responsible for any involvement that he had on her death. Visit the Smoking Gun website for all the dirt on this case.

World Wrestling Entertainment
Triple H Shane McMahon returned to WWE (RAW, 07.28.03). He has picked up a fight with Kane, as revenge for Kane's attack on Linda McMahon. As part of the revenge gimmick, Shane was upset at Eric Bischoff for various comments made about Linda McMahon. Shane and Bischoff had a fight, Shane lost thanks to Kane. I have to compliment Bischoff because he was able to sell the fight, which lost its excitement when Kane interrupted the fight (RAW, 08.04.03). As mentioned last month, the Kane is storyline is boring and stupid.

Molly (real name Nora Greenwald) has returned to her basics. She can fight and has taken the title away from Gail Kim's quick win.

Because of a Mets baseball game, UPN 9 pushed Smackdown to Saturday (08.09.03). I had to chose between Smackdown and Cops and America's Most Wanted. I opted for the latter two, but at least I watched the McMahon and Lesnar match. Lesnar attacked Angle who was the referee. Lesnar finally turned heel. Lesner's in-ring persona sells better as a heel.

Because of the blackout that part of the US and Canada went through, I couldn't watch Smackdown (08.14.03).

The very next week, Smackdown was pushed to Saturday (08.28.03) because of an NFL game. I also preferred to watch Cops and America's Most Wanted instead of Smackdown.

WWE had its monthly PPV (SummerSlam, 08.24.03). The only match worth referring to was the Triple H keeping the title in a six-man fight.

I keep complaining about some storylines and stupid gimmicks that the WWE has tried to push. The best gimmick ever sold by any promotion has been the the Outsiders. First the Outsiders were Kevin Nash (known then as Diesel) and Scott Hall (known then as Razor Ramon), who attacked WCW making us believe that the WWF was behind these attacks. WCW didn't even used the names of Kevin Nash and Scott Hall. Since we were all aware of the rules that both promotion had about never making any references about the other promotion or using its names or invading their market territories (New York for the WWF and Atlanta for WCW), we bought the storyline. Hollywood Hulk Hogan later turned heel and joined the Outsiders to form the NWO. By this time every wrestling fan was aware that every member of the NWO was part of WCW. At this point the NWO gimmick evolved to a group of wrestlers that became Eric Bischoff's henchmen, doing anything to maintain control of the promotion. Later Hogan and Nash couldn't get along any more and the NWO was divided. At this point, the gimmick was no longer exciting. Finally Hogan and Nash made up reuniting the NWO. I guess that I'm not the only one who can't remember anything that happened in the last days of WCW.

NWA Rocky Mountain
The following press release was sent by NWA Rocky Mountain.

The National Wrestling Alliance (NWA) is pleased to announce its newly formed chapter in the Rocky Mountain region.

The National Wrestling Alliance is a long standing network of international wrestling organizations recognized for their quality and contributions to the professional wrestling industry. The NWA Rocky Mountain will be headquartered in Denver and will promote shows throughout the states of Colorado, Wyoming, South Dakota, Utah and New Mexico, with hopes of a future expansion into additional neighboring states.

The history of the NWA dates back to the early 1900's. Past world champions have included Sting, Ricky "the Dragon" Steamboat, Ric Flair, Dusty Rhodes and Harley Race. The current world champion is AJ Styles, and the current NWA Rocky Mountain champion is Chan "MVP" Moody, former University of Colorado football player. Chan began his wrestling career in the late 1990's after accompanying Leon "Vader" White, of Boulder, to Japan for training and an Asian tour with All Japan Pro Wrestling.

09.13.03 marks the inaugural show of the NWA Rocky Mountain, which will feature Chan Moody against TNA's David Young, NWA Rocky Mountain Women's champion Morgan and an appearance by Paulina from the MTV/WWE reality series Tough Enough. An exhibition show will take place on Thursday, 08.14.03.
