Some Random Thoughts
"Classy" Freddy Blassy died on 06.02.03, hours before the scheduled RAW show. The WWE paid tribute to the legend with some video footage and still pictures, with music of the gothic rock band Evanescence.

Golden Award Wrestling Journal has won a Golden Award from IAWMD (thanks). As usual, keep sending information on your local or favorite promotions using the form on the right. Do you want to add your link on this page?

World Wrestling Entertainment
Sean Morley returned to wrestling as Val Venis. At least, fans like his adult entertainer persona and the ladies seems to enjoy playing along with the gimmick. His TV time is now limited to Heat, which not many watch.

Rey Mysterio (Jr.) defeated Matt Hardy for the WWE cruiserweight championship (Smackdown, 06.05.03).

Kurt Angle returned after his neck surgery. He didn't come back as a heel. What will the WWE do with Team Angle? Maybe these guys will be let go.

Triple H Mick Foley returned to the WWE (RAW, 06.09.03) and was part of the unannounced main event with Triple H. Foley agreed to be the guest referee in the Hell in the Cell match between Triple H and Kevin Nash on the Bad Blood PPV. Foley had a match against Triple H who beat him badly. When Flair and Orton came out to attack Foley, Nash came out with Shawn Michaels. At the end of the whole mess, Nash pinned Triple H when Foley counted him out as a referee. My bet was on Nash to win the title from Triple H on Bad Blood (06.15.03). I am somewhat surprised that I forgot about the PPV. Then again, I couldn't care less since the results of the PPV sucked. Kevin Nash lost to Triple H. Shawn Michaels lost to Rick Flair. Rob Van Dam and Kane lost to the Resistance.

Kane lost a match against Triple H for the title (RAW, 06.23.03). As part of an agreement he had made with Bischoff, he unmasked. The WWE has to push and maintain the stupid stories that each wrestler has. Kane is the storyline brother of the Untertaker who had burnt face. The wrestler known as Kane had shaved some of his hair to pull the "burnt face" gimmick. What will the WWE pull now? This gimmick is as bad as when the "old" WCW introduced a wrestler known as The Demon with the make-up of Gene Simmons of KISS.

Gail Kim won the Women's title in a seven-woman battle royal on her first WWE match (06.30.03). How did she get a title shot so fast? How can the Women's title be taken serious?

Stone Cold Steve Austin did not show up RAW (06.30.03). Since various problems of his real life have been public, either he was taking care of personal issues or just taking a day off. Either way, the 06.30.03 edition of RAW was boring. It was a mistake (any way you look at it) from WWE to have Bischoff run the show. I don't think that Bischoff can do anything for any wrestling fan to dislike more (real or storyline). At least, Kane choke-slammed Bischoff to the ground.

Total Non-Stop Action
Lollipop Girl I'm tired to bitch and moan over and over again that I want to watch TNA. I'm too cheap (and broke) to pay $9.95 every week to watch two hours of wrestling although the two hours are worth every penny. At least, I had the chance to see some TNA wrestlers as part of the Reckoning PPV (WWA).

As I mentioned, I am too cheap to spend $9.95 a week to watch wrestling, but I have an opinion on TNA. I go to the TNA website every Thursday to check the results. I also look at the still pictures of the matches. This reminds me when no TV station in NYC carried ECW for almost three months and I had to go to the ECW website to know what had happened.

Am I the only one who thinks that the girls in TNA are better looking than those of WWE?

AJ Styles won the TNA title from Jarrett on 06.11.03 in a three-way match that also included Raven.

World Wrestling All Star
On 06.08.03 in New Zealand, Sting (who was the World Wrestling All Star champion) and Jeff Jarrett (who was the National Wrestling Alliance champion) had a match for the unification of both heavyweight titles. Jeff Jarrett won the WWA title. Jarrett lost his TNA title to AJ Styles three days later.

WWA Reckoning

Although this international and inter-promotional event is very important (at least for wrestling fans), no major wrestling media covered it. I'm lucky that my cable provider, RCN, was offering the Reckoning PPV for $19.95 (nice birthday gift for myself).

The highlight of the Reckoning PPV was Bret Hart. He gave a speech expressing his full retirement from wrestling and remembering his brother Owen who died four years ago.
